Longtime Homecoming volunteers lead 68th Community Parade

Ingrid Price  Jean Brannen Ingrid Price and Jean Brannen have helped lead the Plainfield District 202 Community Homecoming parade from behind the scenes for many years. Now, they will be out front.

Price and Brannen will serve as Grand Marshals of the 68th Annual Plainfield Community Homecoming Parade on Saturday, September 28, 2019.

The parade is always one of the biggest in the state. This year, about 90 entries will step off at 9 a.m. and proceed through downtown Plainfield.

The Community Homecoming Parade features all four District 202 high schools and all seven middle schools, most of the 17 elementary schools, the Bonnie McBeth Learning Center and Plainfield Academy.

Jean (Smith) Brannen is a 1974 Plainfield High School graduate. She is a certified public account and owns Smith Associates Accounting.

Brannen was inducted into the District 202 Alumni Hall of Fame in 2018. She is also a member of the Riverfront Foundation and an active supporter of the Plainfield Foundation for Excellence.

She is a founder of the Plainfield Homecoming Committee which was formed in 1999 and she and Price co-manage the Plainfield (Illinois) High School Alumni page on Facebook.

Ingrid (Andreasen) Price is a 1977 Plainfield High School graduate. She and her husband Chris Price have managed Andreasen Travel & Tours since it opened in 1981. They purchased the agency from her mother, Patricia Andreasen in 1994.

Price also helped found the Plainfield Homecoming Committee and the PHS Alumni Association. She has been active in numerous other community and school-related organizations.

Former District 202 Superintendent of Schools Walter Niehus started the homecoming parade in 1952 to celebrate Plainfield High School’s homecoming week. It has grown as District 202 has grown, into a community event.


Plainfield High School – Central Campus (all events September 28, 2019)

  • Alumni Tea/Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony – PHSCC main cafeteria immediately after the parade. 
  • Varsity football game – 1 p.m., versus Plainfield East High School

Plainfield South High School

  • Varsity football game – 7 p.m. October 4, 2019 versus Plainfield Central High School
  • South Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony– Date TBA.  Ceremony prior to a game during boys’ basketball season

Plainfield North High School

  • Varsity football game – 7 p.m. October 4, 2019 versus Minooka High School

Plainfield East High School

  • Varsity football game – 7 p.m. October 4, 2019 versus Joliet West High School
